Corgi Model Club 335 - Jaguar 4·2 litre 'E' Type 2+2 Sports Car

The Corgi Model Club represents a carefully curated cross-section of some of the greatest die-cast models ever to come originally out of Corgi's famous Swansea factory.

The versatile and exciting Jaguar 4·2 Litre 'E' Type 2+2 is a Grand Touring car for four people with standards of performance, braking and handling previously associated with only the finest of two-seater models. The six-cylinder 4,235cc (258.43 cu in) engine develops 265 bhp at 5,400 rpm; maximum speed is 141 mph (227kph) and it will reach 120 mph (192kph) in just over 30 seconds. There is a choice of automatic or manual transmission. It has independent front and rear suspension and servo assisted disc brakes on all four wheels. The interior of the all steel monocoque body is luxurious, giving ample room and complete comfort for 4 adults or, with the back seat folded, 2 travellers and extra luggage. Comprehensive instrumentation, fresh air heating and ventilation and, of course, a cigar lighter add perfection to this superlative tourer.

This suburb model's luxury specification includes opening bonnet and boot and two doors, tip-up seats, sliding rear seat, plated exhausts and excellent engine detail.

Launched into the Corgi Toys range in 1968, this classic Jaguar sports car was produced in two colour options, red or metallic blue. Both versions came with an opening bonnet, complete with a wonderfully detailed 4.2 litre engine and doors that opened to reveal miniature tilting seats.

The details didn't end there as Corgi bestowed the model with tiny bonnet-mounted mirrors, a separately moulded exhaust and beautifully modelled spoked wheels.

The only controversial feature was the model's clear plastic 'bubble' packaging, which was difficult to open. As a result, very few original packs exist in undamaged condition today. However, our model can be removed from the packaging without damage. Size: Length 10.5cm, Width 4.1cm, Height 3.0cm. Scale: 1:43
